Hardness Tested Oboe d'Amore Cane (various)

Hardness Tested Oboe d'Amore Cane (various)

Simply categorizing cane by grower is not a reliable indicator of hardness. Within every batch of cane is significant variation in hardness — pieces that are too soft to make a decent reed, too hard, and everywhere in between.

We measure each piece using a precision machine to determine exact hardness, then sort the cane into clearly defined categories. This process ensures consistency, reliability, and better results for reedmakers of all experience levels.

To our knowledge, we are one of the only producers in the world — and certainly in the United States — offering hardness-tested cane for the double reed community. Save time. Skip the swill. Make each piece of cane count.

Oboe d'amore cane tends to be more forgiving than oboe cane, so ideal “Medium” pieces come from a wider variety of hardnesses.
